Andreas Stiebler Interview
24 August 2023
We asked current World F1 Champion, Andreas Stiebler, about the foam tyres used in the F1 class at ETS.
- Rear: Contact JF1-30RA
- Front: Contact JF1-45FA
Andreas is also leading the ETS championship. You can see the Contact foam tyres on his Schumacher Icon 2 in the photo below. You can also find his foam setup sheets on the Schumacher website.

RCF1: Have you found that the Contact tyres have a particular asphalt track temperature range for best performance?
Andreas: I found that they work very well across all track temperatures. If it's very cold you just need to be a bit careful with the tire additive, less is often more on the front tires. On some tracks they may work better without additive in colder conditions and with tire warmers.
RCF1: MR33 is the official tyre additive for ETS. Any tips on using it with these foam tyres?
Andreas: I would recommend the MR33 V4 Indoor additive also for outdoor use. Most of the time I put the additive two to four times longer on the rear tires than on the fronts. The tires should be wiped dry. You will not get them dry in one or two laps.
RCF1: Have speeds generally increased through the use of foam?
Andreas: Yes they have. Especially with the new ETS HW Juststock 21.5 combo. I think it's the perfect match with foam tires.
RCF1: Would you like to see a return to rubber tyres at ETS?
Andreas: I think foam tires are the better solution.
RCF1: Any other comments on F1 tyres that you think our readers might be interested in?
Andreas: When using Contact foam tyres on high grip carpet, gluing the sidewall of the front tires is most of the time a necessity to prevent traction rolls.
RCF1: Thanks very much for taking the time for this interview.
Thanks also to Patrick Beck of Tonisport for putting us in touch with Andreas and for his assistance with translation.
