Most Popular F1's
18 September 2014
So which are the most popular F1 chassis? We don't have access to manufacturers figures but we can tell you which are the most read about chassis on our site!
Chassis are ranked by the number of times the article has been viewed. To put this into perspective the most popular page on our site is the Tyres Guide which at time of writing has been viewed more than 60,000 times:
20,148 Tamiya F104 V2
19,952 3Racing FGX
14,201 Tamiya TRF 101
7,500 Serpent F110
7,321 Yokomo YRF 001
7,190 Speed Passion SP-1
7,129 HPI Formula 10
6,945 3Racing F113
6,877 Top Rebel R-F01
6,304 Kyosho Plazma
6,217 WRC F-180
The most popular chassis article is not at all surprising. The Tamiya F104 v2. What is surprising is that the 2nd most read about chassis on our site is the 3Racing FGX and that it's nearly as popular as the Tamiya.
The next most interesting fact is how similar the readership has been for a number of the rest of the chassis - only 1,300 views separates 4th - 11th.
Now please don't start fights at the track over these numbers :) They are definitely not definitive and some articles have been around longer than others, but the number of views is an interesting indicator.
The most popular F1 chassis of all time - the Tamiya F103 - doesn't even make the list with only 4,565 views of our review and setup guide. However, the F103's popularity had been and gone by the time our website was born in 2012 so we're not reading too much into this.
Oh and what the hell is the HPI Formula 10 doing on the list? Apart from Tony Phalen (a really good guy) who actually owns one of these???? This was one of the first articles published on this site so maybe that's the reason!?!
So what does this mean for you the reader? No idea - it's just interesting :) Oh, ok then, if you insist then I suppose we'd better increase our coverage of the surprisingly popular 3Racing FGX. I've ordered a chassis so stay tuned for more FGX articles!
